The Food Services Department is organized under the Education Administration in Mariestad Municipality. We consist of 27 units distributed across preschools, schools, and elderly care, where approximately 60 employees work!

One of our unit managers is moving on to new challenges, and we are now looking for you who want to take on this important role focused on elderly care, which also includes coordination responsibilities for emergency preparedness issues.

Are you an engaged and communicative leader with the drive to develop and strengthen our food services operation? Then this might be the right opportunity for you!

1 position(s).

RESPONSIBILITIES

In your role as Unit Manager for the elderly care kitchens, you have personnel, budget, and working environment responsibilities for your workplaces, where development and improvement work is also a natural part of your managerial duties. You ensure quality assurance of work processes, documentation, routines, and guidelines. You are also responsible for following laws, guidelines, and agreements that regulate the operations. Leveraging and developing the competence in your work groups is an important part of both quality and job satisfaction.

Your main responsibilities include;

  • Leading, distributing, and following up on work within your area of responsibility
  • Contributing to an engaged and motivated working environment through trust-based leadership
  • Collaborating closely with the operations manager and other manager colleagues
  • Planning and following up on budgets and economic resources
  • Coordination responsibility for emergency preparedness issues

You are part of the Food Services Department's management group, consisting of the Food Services Director and two unit managers. Together, you develop the operations forward. In daily work, you are supported by a substitute recruiter who handles short-term absences and an administrator.

Your workplace is based at the City Hall in central Mariestad, a short walk from the travel center.

We work for a strong community with great trust where we support each other and have fun at work!

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who have a university degree or other education that the employer deems relevant for the position. You should also have extensive experience in leadership with responsibility for personnel, operations, economy, and working environment. You are accustomed to leading towards clear goals and enjoy driving development and change in everyday life.

As a unit manager, you are a clear and engaged leader who likes to coach, support, and follow up on your teams in a structured way without always being physically present. To thrive in the role, you need to be able to collaborate well with others but also be self-sufficient when needed.

It is meritorious if you have experience working in large-scale kitchens for public meals. We would also appreciate it if you had knowledge of, and experience working with, the national guidelines for meals in elderly care, which covers aspects such as nutritional needs, consistency adaptation, and different diet types, etc. Since we currently use the food data program Matilda, it is also meritorious if you have knowledge in this area.

If you have previously worked in a coordinating function for emergency preparedness issues in vital societal functions, we see this as a plus.

Since the role involves responsibility for several units within a geographical area, you need to enjoy working close to the operations. You have good communication skills in both speech and writing in Swedish, and we assume you have high digital maturity with experience working in various support systems.

A Category B driver's license is a requirement for the position.

In addition to the opportunity to work with competent and pleasant colleagues and employees, we can offer you;

  • Trust-based working hours
  • Holiday exchange
  • Salary exchange to pension
  • Insurance benefits
  • Benefit bicycle
  • Access to free indoor and outdoor swimming pools
  • Health allowance

In your application, we request a CV showing your previous merits. You may omit the cover letter - instead, you will answer some selection questions when you make your digital application. We handle applications on an ongoing basis.
